This has just started happening on my 98 defender.

Drives fine, no play in any bearings or bushes.
Turn full lock to the left and return to straight ahead whilst moving slowly forward and I get a rubbing sound from the driver side front wheel for a short while. Sounds like a tyre rubbing on something but no evidence to suggest the tyre is the problem. All wheels are tight and true.
It is speed related so definately a wheel problem.

Turn full right lock and return to straight ahead with no probs at all.
It is always after turning hard left but not all the time if that makes sense.
Sometimes it never makes a noise. The steering runs true and brakes are not binding.

Its just started so I want to sort it before any serious damage is done and I'm hoping some of you geniuses have heard of or sorted it before.
I've changed nothing and not hit any large pot holes.
I'm at a loss as to what it can be and I cant track it down whilst driving.

Nae probs;)
If ye do go ahead and do it, just becarefull when ye put the half shaft back in and not bugger up the wee spring clip. Ah bent one of me old ones puttin' back into the old cv!

Regarding doing the other one, I would say leave it be, it could go another 50,000miles or more for all you know and it will hopefully give you warning before it goes.

It could be a bit of grit or something got in amoungst the other one and caused it to wear prematurly.
