Hi all, have just picked up a speed related rubbing noise after a journey down the A12..more noticible with no load on engine and in traffic at low speed. Visually checked the pads (without removing wheels) and all seem to be in place. Has anyone had this or any suggestions where to look ? Seems more noticeable in cab and not with window open. Thanks (TD5 S Auto)

What sort of rubbing noise? Metallic? Rubbery? Grinding?

I find that after a bit of off road driving on low tyre pressures I find that my tyres make funny noises for on the road, kind of as though they are re-settling on the bead, is it that sort of sound?

Hi, I would say grinding and definately more noticeable within the vehicle and not with my head hanging out the window ! It is very noticeable at low speed and wasnt there before the drive down into London.

Cheers Griff, will do...quick update, notice that the noise doesn't start until some load has been put on engine : Pulling out of a car park gently, no noise, driving out of car park with gears changing, noise appears and stays even when heading back into car park at very low speed. Hope that makes sense !

Update on this issue... It was in fact front driver side wheel bearing, booked in for replacement under my warranty. The nice part of the tale is the fact i have got to know the dealer and workshop better along with another landrover specialist that are all within a few miles and genuinely into the vehicles they sell and repair. Very glad I have bought into the zone !

Further update ! The hub assembly was changed but the noise remained ! Back in for two days and now its been pinpointed as the transfer box. Due to be swopped out in the very near future.
