Hi All.... I'm in the process of replacing the rubber door strip on the drivers door of my Td5... I have got the old one off but it has left a lot of the double sided fixing tape on the door. Has anyone got a easy way of getting it of other than spending hours peeling it off with my finger nails!... I've already tried using an hairdryer and a stanley blade but the stuff is to sticky also tried using some white spirit to help disolve it but to no avail....Any ideas would be helpfull

Tried both petrol and nail varnish remover and neither is getting it to shift properly and also parafin....only clears it off when there is a very thin residue left and then only with a lot of rubbing.:(

In that case, if you really wanna go at it, try and get some Trichloroethane (usually known as Trike) But use gloves as it is a carcinogen. Though I used it for years without gloves and appear to have got away with it. I'm not too sure where you could get it, I used to be able to get it through the trade.

Only other thing I could suggest would be heat it up a bit with a hair dryer.

If you get down your local factors that supply to the paint trade you can get a rubber wheel that fits in a drill/ drimmel, pulls it right off

Thanks all for the replies my mate did it for me in the end using paint thinners and a plastic scraper. New strip is back on now.:)
