'96 disco 1, 300tdi, manual.
Just replaced the rubber coupling on the rear drive shaft but couldn't figure out how to get the steel and rubber bush out of the center of the drive shaft.

Any tips?
Thanks
Laurie

i am assuming you mean the bronze bush that sits just behind the doughnut. if so, a very sharp small chisel and split it,you should then be able to work if out with a srewdriver or somat similar.thats how i did ours,a bit of a pain but got it in the end.

I just replaced the donut... the bush doesn't look very bronze to me and there's definitely rubber in the middle of it.

I just cleaned the old one out, put some new grease in and then re-connected the prop.

Apologies - I thought '96, disco 1, 300 tdi, manual - was introducing myself but, hay-ho, each to their own.

I think the rubber bush is important because it centers the shaft on the diff but they certainly haven't made it easy (possible) to get the old one out.
I wouldn't have even known it was there except a new one came in the kit.
