Hi I am new to this am on my 4th range rover but this is my first sport it's a 3.6 tdv8 and I have a problem the top radiator hose blew a few weeks ago from the engine/thermostat housing so I had a new thermostat and hose fitted yesterday and out today it went again if anyone can help with a clue what it could be it would be much appreciated thanks

Hoses blow off either because they are no good and need replacing, the engine overheats or exhaust gas is getting into the coolant (head gasket failure)

Also when you rev it the top radiator hose gets hard with pressure

I think youv'e answered your own question...water pipes dont blow off unless theres another problem overheating you'd see that on guage or hg fail pressurising system a sniff test will confirm that...

Were you losing water before hose blew off...theres another way to check for pressure...weve got a kit that replaces cap on expantion tank and you pump the pressure up to see if theres a leak in system...last month showed pin hole in my vans core plug after it overheated

Hi

Don’t know if it’s any help but could u use an infered thermostat so u can go round the engine bay on the hoses etc to see if u have any blockages

also have u held the engine around 2,000 revs to ensure no air is in the system

alas don’t really know these engine it was just a thought

It's going back in on Saturday to get looked at found the egr thermostat was split so just going to replace that and see wa happens when u rev it now u can see the hose getting pressure in it if u drive the car normal it's fine it's just when u give it a boot the pipe comes off

This is what is split
