RRC axles - will they fit a 90?

Ok - bit of an oddball question...

I've got a 1991 RRC with abs, the axles are in very good condition, with good swivels, new bearings etc,. ( rebuilt them myself 40 k ago, and they are in good order)

Will these axles fit my 1998 defender, which has a damaged back axle, and leaking front swivels...

I know the brake calipers will be different, so I will use the 90's brake calipers etc,. But are the basic axles any different ( different mountings or backplates or swivels or diffs etc.)?

Yes I think they are pretty much of a muchness only thing on the fronts is the width of the radius arm to axle bushes, early cars had narrower bushes.
5 mins with a tape measure will confirm calliper mounting bolt centres, or even lazier just look at the calliper part numbers for both cars on island4x4 etc.

Just checked - the rears use the same calipers too - brill, cos my RRC calipers are in good nick too....

Fronts are different - more research to do.

The rears fit just fine. Ive got a 1990 RRC rear axle on my 87 ninety. From what Ive heard the front should be fine too. They are 10 spline diffs so obviously that needs taking into account. The only downside I have found is replacement parts such as the stub axle's cost about 4x as much as defender parts and can be a bit harder to source.

Itd be easier to patch up your front swivels or pack with grease and just bang the rear axle on if the splines are the same.

It means I can use the rear axle as-is, calipers and all and lets me use the RRC front axle while I rebuild the defender front axle slow time.
