Hi folks, well I'm cracking on with the RRC Ambi camper conversion, trying to get ready for the skiing season.

It is registered as a 1984 30/01/1984 car. Engine number 11D13433A.

I have bout a service kit but the plugs in the kit are 12y champions and the ones in the engine are 9y.

One of the plugs are snapped in half, hence the rough running.

Which plugs are the correct ones?

Help appreciated.

Bin the champions and fit NGK BPR6ES. Or so thats what I've been told/read a lot of. Use NGK BPR6ES in my RRC and havent had any problems.

Are you getting a nice fat blue spark directly from the coil?

The 9y is the correct plug. Gap should be set to 0.8mm. I use ngk bp6es not the resistor R version on 2 hotwire injection v8s no probs. The r prevents electrical interference as do most ignition leads. Not an issue on carb rrc.

Hi folks, thanks, it's a 3.5 v8 carb, 1984 2door converted. I phoned mm 4x4 who supplied the kit, they said the 12y will be ok, however I'm not sure if I believe them. Will it run or do you think they will cause damage?

Never let it be said that you don't get a variety of opinions on here! I've never used anything but Champions in any car I've owned inc. four RRC's (admittedly all efi's) & never had a problem. One 3.5efi's service history showed more plug set replacements than I would have thought normal, all NGK's, so I changed to Champs. & never had any trouble for the next three years when I sold the car.

+1, I switched to n9yc's, supposed to give a longer plug life.:D
