HI all,
I can't find my Haynes noddies guide so...
Can anyone give me the procedure to check the ABS blink codes for a RRC 3.9 V8 please.

I need to know:
- which relay to pull
- I think i need to link the black to the black and pink wire??
- And then........
Anyone pleeeeeeese:doh:

You need to bridge the black and black/pink wires on the diagnostic plug.

Remove ABS warning light realy. (Left hand relay under passenger seat. Green Base.)

Turn on ignition.

ABS light will come on. After five seconds it will start to flash.

The flashes consist of a pause, a flash a pause and a pause.
Then there will be a pause of 2.5 seconds followed by a series of flashes. This will be the first part of the code. then there will be another pause of 2.5 seconds then another series of flashes forming the second part of the code.

Fault code will continue to flash over and over again unil bridge wire is removed. Once the bridge wire is remove the fault code will be cleared from memory.

re insert wire to get another code if there is one.

Fault codes are.

2-12 front right
2-13 rear left
2-14 front left
2-15 rear right.

Too largean air gap or sensor has been forced out by exciter ring.

Check sensor setting.

5-12 front right
5-13 rear left
5-14 front left
5-15 rear right

sensor or wiring has intermittent fault

check wiring

6-12 to 6-15 same order

no output from sensor.

check sensor setting

4-12 to 4-15 same order

wiring to sensor broken or sensor resistance to high.

check wiring or fit new sensor

2-6 stop light switch

faulty switch or wiring. Fuse A5 blown or not fitted.

check pedal return or wiring/switch

2-7 continous supply to ecu with ignition off. faulty valve relay or wiring

check wiring and valve

2-8

no voltage to abs solenoid valves. faulty valve or relay.

check wiring.

3-0 to 3-9

open circuit in connection from ecu to solenoid valve in booster block or in ecu.

check wiring and connectors. renew ecu if wiring correct

4-0 to 4-9

short circuit in earth connection from ecu to solenoid valve in booster.

see above.

5-0 to 5-9 short circuit to 12volt in connection from ecu to solenoid valve in booster. possible earth fault.

see above

6-0 to 6-9 short circuit between two connections from ecu to solenoid valve in booster block.

check wiring valve and booster. replace ecu if no fault found.

There are more codes but not listed in haynes.

Thanks - that it brilliant.
Just one thing - and yes you can take the pi** - but where will I find the diagnostic plug??

Yes - I know - Numpty question - but you got to start somewhere!!
Thanks - again!

It is under the passenger seat. You should find it behind the front access panel or the side access panel. I think its the only plug under there that isnt connected to anything. But may be clipped in. Has 4 wires in it i think

I have now figured out 2 -3 and got past to code 2 - 6 which seems to be stop light switch.

Once I get this sorted - how do I clear any others codes - or do I just need to keep going unti there are no more?
Thx

Still stuck with the stop light problem.
Can't find any problem. Has the switch out and checked the vacuum hose all through and doesn't seem to be any problem.

Any ideas?
Thx
W:doh:

Have you checked the adjustment on the switch?
It should click twice. Once for brake lights and another for abs.

And to clear all faults you have to get the fault code off the abs ecu, in the same manner. Keep doing test until nothing else comes up

Khryztal:
Ah ha - It clicks just the once.
As a new switch is only a tenner I'll get one and replace it anyway and see where this gets me.

Thanks again for your help!!
