Just fitted a roverron synergy unit, the all in one, maf and TU3 unit built in one, it certanly made it quicker on just the TU3 part, now ive connected the MAF part, and theres lots of settings, wondered whats best ? mines on 7 with both TU3 and MAF switched on.
thanks

Hi m8,
i fitted one of these last week to my td4 with great results. What i found was that if the settings r too high you get quite a lot of black smoke out the back.Mine is set on 3 with both the switches down (on),no black smoke, but every engine is differant so you must play around with the settings to find what works best for yours.I also disconnected the egr vacume pipe and blanked it off with a scew. All in all i am very pleased with the roverron unit, more power and much easier to rev out with a 100% better throttle response.

thanks for the advice, im intersted in disconnecting the egr vacume pipe and blanking it off with a scew as you did to try, where is this egr pipe located ?
thanks

Follow the air piping on the right as you look into the engine, The EGR is about 4 inches to right of bonnet catch at front before it goes to intake manifold

thanks ...

is it this braded meshed pipe i remove and plug ? or the one to the lower of the picture with the silver disc and small black pipe coming off ?

i cut an inch into the pipe and blocked both, Im presuming that was correct as i wasn't sure about the open end on the EGR

For what it takes (4 bolts) remove EGR and clean out, You may be surprised what you see

thanks for that, i removed pipe, and blocked off both ends, wow what a difference again ! seems my freelander keeps being reborn :) seemed to stop the heavy smoking i was getting too under hard acceleration .... ( with synergy unit on )

now im confused more with the synergy unit, im sure mine runs better with the maf part switched off, how can that be, surely a 03 plate with 72k on the clock must have a wonky maf sensor ? or could it be ive got the 1 in a 1000 thats ok ??? or am i being fooled  :D

i had the same prob when i first fitted mine.Roverron said it was due to the maff sending out too higher signal. So i fitted a new maff sensor from roverron £55 great result. Most units send out a low signal but just sometimes they go the other way and its too high. that was the case with mine. Hope this helps, why not send roverron an email he will explain it very well.
