Evenin' all,

I've bought a new trials machine today, bit of a monster but perhaps a
bit TOO modified for my liking! The builder has modified the engine a
fair bit and his final crowning act was to top the engine with one of
those "boxer" manifolds and for SUs!

I really don't think that this is necessary and plan to revert to a
twin SU setup. I have two questions:

1.) I have a inlet manifold with twin strombergs on, does anyone know
if the manifold is common to the Stromberg and SUs or are they
different. I can't see Rover going to the effort and cost of making a
different manifold for the different carbs but does anyone know the
answer?

2.) Does anyone want to purchase a Boxer manifold maybe with 4 carbs on
it, maybe just with 2?

Hope someone can help............

Dave

Have you considered a 4-barrel holly?

Just a thought :)

Yes I did think that then I thought "cost". At the end of the day I
need a vehicle that i'm not going to be too bothered if I crash it and
it explodes in a fireball ( as long as i'm not in it!) I didn't spend
that much on it so I'm a bit loath to spend hundreds on it when it's
not worth much more than a few hundred quid. As far as i know the twin
SU's should easily handle the power nes-pas? What do you think?

indeed

Well - the man on the Clapham Omnibus says that the Holly will make it 'go
better'. Whether you can use that 'go betterness' in your intended use is
something for you to answer. FWIW: Twin SUs seem ok on the 110.

Does the 4up installation work ok? if so, not sure I'd be too worried
about changing them in a hurry.

One thought if you do decide to change - it's probably less work to get a
twin carb manifold complete with SU units already attached - at least
you'll be reasonably sure they're configured right for the job.

Same part number all round.

Tiggrr has twin SUs - no shortage of power that I'd noticed.

I've heard the Holly's are not good at angles (side slopes or hill climbs)
and tend to flood the engine. Not good for trialing!
I have an Edelbrock / Weber 500 on mine which is supposed to be better at
angles but still far from ideal on petrol (not a problem on LPG thou)

They are ok if you convert them to centre hung floats.
