Rough reversing

When I reverse my FL1 TD4 (51 plate 80k miles) near full-lock, it doesn't feel smooth. I've only had the car a couple of months so I've never noticed it being any different. Some people on here say that a symptom of VCU/IRD failure is the feeling of the brakes being on while reversing full-lock. Subjective I know, but to me it doesn't feel like that, it just doesn't feel entirely smooth. Is this normal for a FL1?

If my current 2001 Td4 and my previous 2000 1.8k are anything to go by there is certainly a little resistance when trying to reverse on full lock - this is normal. IF, when trying to reverse, it feels like someone has their foot on the brakes and there are other accompanying symptoms (popping, grinding, banging...etc...etc) then perhaps it is time to consider that something is amiss..
