Hi all, am a new member so probably loads of posts like mine!

Just bought a disco 200tdi, as i started removing sill covers and what not to rust treat areas and repaint ive found that the body is completly shot! Needs both sills, another boot floor as the 'repair' thats been done is just a bodge, both inner wings and all doors are rotting inside.

Ino this amount of welding might not sound all that much for a pro but i dont want to do all the work for other bits to start going!

Chassis engine and all running gear are perfect so i want to put a defender body onto my chassis and just wondered how its done. Am handy on the spanners but a bit if advise from a pro never hurts does it!

Cheers tom

youtube "a 4x4 is born" all the answers are there, now get your sniffling ar5e over to the intro section and do it properly Twunt :D

Ive been reading a thread on here of a bloke doing the rust on his disco am tempted to just repair my shell now

Cheers for all the help, i think am gunna do a bit more stripping on the disco shell see how bad it really is and go from there. I may end up just repairing the shell for know :)

This is what i found after i removed drivers side sill cover, i darent remove passenger one yet haha.

It's better that way, less to cut out :D

Doing my RRC at the moment, strip it and fix it, box is great, 100/60/3.4mm comes in 7.5m length and costs £50-£60 depending on steel price and local stock holders. I am planning on making sills, rock sliders and rear bumper with the 1 length I got.

I think his floor was fine before he ground it out. ;). Still not a bad quick video. I haven't used an arc welder for years, although I was thinking of getting a mig....hmmm. Nice to see lack of gloves for grinding but has them to fit carpet...where are the risk assessors when you need them? Take some pics if you start the job mate.
