I need to source a "Mr Softy" type ice cream factory. I'm having a
garden party in July (finally getting married) and i want to lay on
ice cream for the guests. Without buying an ice cream van, where
would I hire such a thing? Google isn't helping...

Thanks EMB - I did actually find that one but we are not in the M25.
Your other link looks very promising though.

Go on - what did you search on?

Looks like hat eating will be one of the interesting features at the
party.

Why not 'rent' the man, with the van?

Quite cool to have your own ice cream van parked in your garden or drive.

Then everyone can queue up like kids, only they won't have to pay.

A bit like a free bar...

This is starting to sound like a really daft idea ;-)

I did think about hiring the ice cream van. Space is becoming a
problem though.

We already have the free bar planned (kerr-ching...) If all else
fails we live opposite a pub and within spitting distance of 3 others.
I don't think you can get 800 yards away from a pub in Barnsley.

Plus fully organic barbecue for 70 people, including 3 catering staff
(kerr-ching)

Plus 'entertainment' for a dozen kids or so (kerr-ching)

On top of that we are now adding an ice cream factory, probably a
candy-floss machine and approx 10kg of strawberries and cream. I've
also added a pinball table and "serious" PlayStation setup to the list
(kerr-ching)

This was supposed to be a wedding on the cheap (the original theme was
going to be "get married for £200") but we seem to be a little past
that!

The outdoor hifi is on order and I'm now engineering some software so
I can adjust the volume and track listing from an iPaq....

Have I forgotten anything?

I managed this - one of the few real successes I have had in marital terms.
Reg office, borrowed transport, reception for 12, flowers etc - a shade
under 200 notes. If I include the drinks I stood everyone, perhaps a tenner
or two more. Bargain. Mind you, it was in 1992, so adjust figures for
inflation.

Tim, you need to try harder.

You had a big wedding. My reception was only for 8, and was well shy of
200 quid. However the honeymoon cost me about the same as a decent
Defender so it all evened up in the end.

Well, of course, I say 12, it were really 't square root of minus 2...

We had a honeymoon in Venice which cost a lot more than the wedding, but we
had it before we got married to save on the cost.
