Help i have a roof box but im a bit worried about putting it on the roof bars as they only lock in on the two pins, Does anyone else use the factory bars or should o get a set that clamp round the roof rails ?????

Do you have the three cross bars? I have carried a three stage ladder and timber without any problems. I had a couple and Astravans with the same pin fixing carring ladders never had any problems. So a plastic box would be ok.

I don't use mine as I simply don't trust them to hold a load securely.
I have a set of LR roof bars instead which are far more robust and secure.
It 's interesting to note that LR changed the design of the bars on the D2 - the cross-bars clamp on.
You could always use a webbing strap to secure the box to the two main bars as extra security.

I carried a full width box on two rails out of three, full to bursting point with clothes for 6 men all the way to the isle of man and back with no problems... it's also a very easy way to fit/remove the box without needing two sets of stepladders!
