Hi all

I have bought myself another 300 TDi Disco (S Reg) and am well chuffed. Anyway, the missus isn't, as it rolls around a lot. So much so, its like a blasted Canoe going around a round about. I think the suspension is very soft...

So advice please, how do I check if the suspension is soft.....and is it the shocks ? (I am guessing its the shocks as they are yellow in colour and the garage I bought it off mentioned the shocks had been changed).

Advice please !

Thanks

Adrian

Hi

I am away from home this week with my Disco. I havn't the Haynes guide with me, so how do I check the anti-roll bars ?

Ta

check all the suspension bushes - thats a long pry bar between the parts the bush seperates and see if theres any movement.
just out of interest - is this the first discovery/landy you've owned? as they do lurch about a lot compered to more sporty cars - my missus has a hot hatch and compered to my disco it's like driving a brick

Hi all

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the roll bar tonight and see if its OK.
This is my third Disco, the other two died. (One 300 TDi did 250,000 miles before the Headgasket & Top end went, the other, a 200 TDi chewed its gear box).

It does seem to roll around more than the 200TDi for certain, although that maybe purely subjective.

Thanks

Adrian

The Monroe shocks I have just fitted to mine are yellow and they're pretty standard so I don't think you can infer much from the colour. If the bushes are worn enough to make it roll I would have thought it would be making all sorts of clonking noises.
Did they actually fit ARB's to the early 200 Discos?

I don't think the early discos had ARBs fited as standard. I had a 1990 one a while back that didn't and there was no sign that it ever had. A lot of people take them off to "improve" the off road axle movement but if you do road miles it's worth keeping them imho.
