Rocker Cover Breather Hose?

Whilst flushing my washer reservoir out over the weekend, I found a small diameter (about 8mm) rubber hose sitting at the side of the washer reservoir itself - the end is not inserted into anything.

I traced the hose back and found that the connected end leads straight into the top of the rear of the Right Hand (from front) Rocker Cover. Does anyone know what this hose is, I assume it is some sort of breather hose, and more importantly where the unconnected end should be plugged into?

Engine is 3.9 V8i on 1995 Discovery

Breather... think where it is is fine.

That's what I thought - good job I caught my father in law trying to attach it to the Washer Reservoir then. We'd been descaling reservoir and flushing system as nozzles had blocked and because the hose looks very similar, he decided to try and attach it up to the reservoir - can't turn your back for 5 minutes!!!

Yes, you may have ended up with oily windows... or watery oil.
