Rock sliders

Easy enough to fit. as has already been said, they slid up the tube on the chassis then a bolt with washer holds them from behind the chassis, so make sure the tube is in good order and cleaned out inside. The front connects to the bolt that holds the body to the outrigger, so once again, the outrigger needs to be in good order. (soak the bolt/nut in WD40)

I got some guardian ones for mine which look exactly the same and are really good. Needed some proper wellying to get them in though (i think the chassis jacking tube was a bit rusty on the inside!) - got there in the end though!

while you waiting for them, make sure the tube where the rock sliders slide into, is clean and not corroded...
I have a new galv chassis, so that should'nt be a problem but maybe the galvanising could stop them sliding into the tube? Well I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

I madde3 my own tree sliders but then again i am a time served welder,

To clean up the inside of the out rigger i used a wire brush attachment on a Air die grinder to remove all of the crap, But you could use the same attachment on a drill. Then applied rust converter, red oxide and a good spraying of shultz, Left to dry for a few days then covered the bit of the tree slider that was being inserted(pipe) with copper slip.
Once everything was bolted up and sitting in the right place i drilled through the out rigger and put a M8 stainless steel bolt and nylock nut on to keep the slider in place. I have see some being pulled out when off roading and buckeling the plate that bolts to the bulkhead. That part of mine is made from 6mm angle iron instead of flat bar so that it does not twist.

Mines have taken a right kicking, even had a winch connected to them to stop me from rolling over while i winched myself out

I have just ordered a pair of these; defender 90 rock tree sliders land rover on eBay (end time 01-Jan-11 16:46:54 GMT)
has anyone on here had any of them? what do you think of them? do they fit ok?

lets hope his welding is better than his spelling:doh:

Almost hit the buy it now button on these yesterday, only thing that put me off was the fact he cant spell, or be bothered to check his spelling?
If he isnt bothered about the spelling in his ad that is making him money, how bothered is he about the quality of welding?

Sam

My rock sliders have just arrived this afternoon, a bit of a delay in postage due to the xmas period, but the quality of them is superb for the money. I'll get some pics of them tomorrow when I fit them.:)

I've just fitted my rock sliders, very pleased with them, the tubes are 2" in diameter and the box section is 80mm x 40mm and looks really well made. Took some pics off my phone for you to have a gander at.

Nice work:)

Nice to see youve posted the photos, its annoying when folk sometimes post about a project and dont show it to completion.

Ive found that I have to slide to the edge of my seat before stepping out, or my trousers rub on my rocksliders, but that comes naturally now, so not a problem.

Nice job;)

Took forever to get the rust out of my tubes but once that was done they went on easily and feel solid and look great.
