it was only £175 for my 300tdi

but the missus soon spent the £35 difference

You only have to pay the top grade if your vehicle was registered after 1 March 2001.

Isn't it calculated on emissions now ??

Yes it is, hence the bands. But the highest band only applies to fairly new vehicles (not sure exact date).

How will those of us fair that have LPG? By rights we ought to be on a low band due to emissions my tax is due in Sept and don't fancy a shock.

My Landy is a V8i with LPG on a 1995 plate so I am presuming based on previous posts that it will be no different (about £175).

Didn't think about tax when I fell in love with the V8i (love is blind as they say)

Is it purly LPG or dual? If its purly LPG then you are alternate fuel, however before March 2001 they don't care what fuel it is, so you will be £175, you could have a 14litre scania engine in there and its still going to be £175.

They say the the tax is based on emmisions, they don't actully care about emissions, its just a way to get more of our money, and keep the poor off the roads.

Its LPG and Petrol but for obvious reasons I will predominantly be on LPG. Thats fair enough. £175 isn't much more than I paid on the Focus for a year.

I'm pretty sure you can't get a conversion kit to fit the Scania engine though

so my r reg tdi will be £175 ? that will pee everyone off at work....
is this all veryified information as i was about to part friends with my disco until i read this thread.
