Hi,
I get a hollow ringing sound from the gearbox area of my 1999 TD5, but only when the revs are between 2100rpm and 2200rpm, does it in neutral when stationary as well as on the move. Is there a common problem with these, such as exhaust heat shields coming loose, or handbrake drum loose, or worst still - bearings in the transfer box..? Reason I ask is because Ive found another couple of posts on the interweb about the same problem, however no subsequent fixes or diagnosis posted.
Cheers.
