So just an update with regards my friends at Rimmer Brothers,

Got my refund back today

Should have been £27.70 plus my postage back to them....

Straight forward enough you might think? Nope! Only got £24.41!

Nearly a Fiiver short. I wouldnt recommend these pathetics bunch of monkeys to anyone!

I'm in the motor trade myself and it never ceases to amaze me how one member of staffs actions/attitude can affect future sales. Not returning calls is my pet hate.
Also the perceived notion that OEM is always better is a struggle. After all most of the faults with our P38a are caused by OE parts failing.
Who here would buy an OE v8 block assy etc :D

if they were smart they would read this, appologise and then send you your fiver plus a £20 voucher!!!

its a shame cos I liked em too

I will go to the place with what I want for the best price normally unless I need advice too then it may be somewhere like dingos as I said before.

Loyal Customer;
When I had my Classic, a guy just up the road from RB who had a workshop at an old airfield with a few planes in a hanger advertised “supply and fit rear windows”.
These were half price so the wife and I decided to have a four day break, pop up to have this rear door fitted and then travel down the coast to Great Yarmouth and then onto Norwich to visit family.
Anyway there was a problem with the handle/lock barrel fitting so he sent me to RB to pick up a new one.
Got there and was very impressed with the rebuild of a couple of Triumph cars and also a complete rebuild of a Classic.
I had to give the guy my address in Wiltshire for the receipt. He said you’re a long way from home! I said yes, I will travel to the end of the world to stay loyal to Rimmer Brothers.
I’m sure to this day the guy thought I had travelled all that way just for a handle.

I only get bitten once, then never again.

Oh well, got me sensor sorted (From somewhere else ha) and it runs sweet as a nut again!

Sorry scott02464 ,

We processed the refund for the part and the return postage, but we missed the original outbound postage. Have refunded it today.

Hi Andrew

Firstly thanks for your post

A genuine mistake it might be but that does not excuse the manner in which it had been dealt with (By Paul as you know)

Also can you explain how someone can get confused with what should have been a £6 part with a £27.70 part as there is quite a difference between the two?

As you will have heard on the recorded voice call you have listened to i clearly stated that my particular part had a 'black' plug. I was told that there are not any black plugs anymore and that they have changed to a 'Blue' plug. This obviously isnt the case. And I have had the pleasure of losing more of my coolant trying to replace something that was never going to fit.

Lastly, How can one transaction have so many mistakes in buying one 'simple' item? For large company like Rimmer Bro's I was quite amazed by Pauls reaction when i said i wasnt going to use you again for my parts, because he quite frankly didnt give a ****!

Customer Care at its best!

Scott

Hi Scott,

We don't really have an excuse for the selection of the wrong part, I am guessing Mark looked in The Land Rover epc ( Microcat) which is not very user friendly some times. In this case it lists sensors as a separate sub heading under the engine section but does not include the sensor that screws into the inlet manifold (this get shown in a different place with the manifold). I assume he failed to find it here, so turned to our printed catalogue for the part number which is listed under Engine Sensors, we list Diesel at the top of that section and then V8 lower down the page, the Diesel one got booked out, I am guessing because it has a description of "twin terminal" and during the call he makes reference to either being a single or a twin terminal version. I can't be sure though and Mark remembers checking the colour of the part in the bin but not how he came to that part number. We don't list them by price anywhere, so that will not have been a factor in the process. The colour of the plug is not always a reliable indicator of the correct part as it can change depending upon the source of the item.

I am sorry your experience was not a good one.

Regards

Andrew
