right this bloody retro fit cruise control

I have followed the instructions as posted on another thread on here to the letter got it all back together and I have no cruise control is there something basic I have missed the steering wheel switch is fitted and connected and the dash switch is fitted and lights up with the head lights and the orange LED glows when turned on but I have nothing at the steering wheel switches
I am a bit miffed as I am frozen and have nothing to show for it any advice?????
is there something that needs turning on on the computer side of things for it to work I have no idea
