Righty, a continuation of the disco heater issues.

Engine, gets hot, radiator top hose hot

Feed to heater matrix from top hose.......COLD! well, tepid

Heaters in car, luke warm if that.

Matrix exit pipe, COLD.

Tried sticking hose on the exit pipe to 'backflush' the system but nothing happens and no water comes out.

Iv read that the heater controls only control flaps to direct the air around and there is no 'valve' controling the flow of water through the system.

So, Is it dash stripping time?

Give us a clue.
Model , engine. year.

can't ya just disconnect the heater pipes in the engine bay and run water through it, it'll tell you if it's blocked and possibly flush any crap out:D

Iv done that !
Put the hose to the 'exit' to see if I could flush it through but nowt came out. There was just a pressure build up that saw me get soaked when the hosepipe spat back out!!!!

Find it hard to believe the heater matrix should block, it's only a pipe coil when all said.
Are you positive neither of the heater hoses are not kinked anywhere.
Has the heater ever worked?
You could try connecting the hose pipe to the other hose to reverse the flow and stand back. Try connecting it with a bit of pipe and a couple of jubilee clips.

dont put too much pressure through though or you will be mopping the interior out before ya change the matrix:D

don't want to sound patronising but you did have the heater set to hot didn't you? even when they block you should get some sort of flow through.

sorry, my mistake, just most cars have a heater control that actually shuts a valve on the matrix pipe (found that one out years ago when i blew apart a matrix on an old bluebird:doh:)

That's all right... I had a minivan once and each summer I had to turn a water valve under the bonnet to stop the heat going through the heater and turn the valve back again at the begining of winter. :)

Ah memories! And taking the head off once a fortnight to grind the valves in... And the excitement of trying to get it to brake in a straight line.. Those were the days.;)

this might be a stupid answer but have you tried flushing it in the direction of flow????

CURRENT rangie had no when i first put it on the road matrix bunged up cured it by filling matrix with washing soda solution overnight to let it loosen the crap then drain and refill with domestos toilet cleaner the stuff that dissolves limescale, then flush backwards and forwards you wouldnt believe the crap that came out tha was 7years ago heater is still superb to this day its a long winded way to do it but it does work best of luck mate

UPDATE

Matrix flushed in the direction of the flow
Have repeatedly ran her up to temp and bled it.

Head in the footwell, apply throttle, let throttle go and that gurgling bubbly noise is still there!!!!

She has a new rad, new thermostat. And still I can't solve it.

Should I be thinking about exhaust gasses getting into the coolant? Although in the coolant tank there are no signs I can see or smell

exhaust gases in the coolant???( cracked head or leaking gasket???) can all be checked with a simple breather tank test at most garages.... the one with the liquid that changes colour ( yellow means trouble!!!)
have you tested the new thermostat??? usually boiling it in a pan to see if it opens... or even trying to run it without the thermostat to see if this cures it????... ... tbh im pretty sure that you need to bleed it after it reaches temp.. ie thermostat opens!!!!!
