Freelander 1 Right... I'm not scrapping it... I will bring live back into her...

At the moment... it lives again....
Need to remove the scratches from the exterior paintwork, but it looks like it needs re-lacquering and more detail in the cleaning.
At least it doesn't smell like a dog now.
Also... notice the Sony Digital Radio.... Uses USB Sticks, iPod or Android devices as removable media... or you can use it as a radio too...
:)
Oh... the Tailgate window regulator cable broke yesterday... I bought one of the new bits without motor off eBay (2Yr Warranty).
Lets see how difficult it is to fit shall we.

Any Pointers????

Question.... if i park up in neutral (or drive in any gear) and I "accidentally" flick the HDC collar on the gear lever....
Should I see the light on the dash... or does the light only come on when the car is going down a hill, requiring HDC?

Mine has the seperate switch as it is a facelift ,but when i push it the green light flashes and when i engage 1st or reverse gear the light is on constant whether it;s stationary or moving .
Trev.

Accidentally switching the HDC on will simply activate the system ready for use. HDC will only be active if the gearbox is in first or reverse and the brakes and clutch pedals are in the up position. The accelerator is then used to set the speed you want to drive down the hill. HDC will stop the Freelander exceeding that speed.

So.... no light.... indicates a fault with......... hmmm.
I repaired the switch while the engine and box was out... the wires came off - but thats all intact now.... the gearbox I fitted was from a good know working freebie.... Is the HDC protected by a fuse? if so.. any Idea where it would be?
I'm guessing prior to me getting the car; that the wires would have been connectedto the reverse switch or something like that...

The HDC is part of the ABS system so there's no separate fuse. No flashing green HDC light suggest that the HDC switch isn't connecting. The ABS Air is looking for the HDC switch to make before entering HDC standby mode.

Just bought a full set of Leather Seats with heaters built in, off eBay.
very VERY good nick... the seats come with relays and I even blagged the switches from the dash... I know the wires are there, so I'm planning of fitting them this weekend.
I even have the rear 70/30 split seat too... but as this is a commercial........ (i don't know - whether to fit or not) the space in the back is useful to be honest.
I also pick up the boot carpet and the guy is even giving me the glass sunroof panels.
Wish I had a cheap set of Alloys for it - instead of 3 of the 2001 model wheels which don't fit without spacers... and to be honest... I've never been a fan of wheel spacers - even if they are only 5mm.

Anyway.... another question (maybe I will need to repeat this on a separate posting) other than DIFF bushes.... when it goes over pot-holes in the beautifully crafted Nottinghamshire roads, it sounds like there is a bush on either side knocking at the rear...... are there any "usual" suspects for a FL1 that has 109,000Miles on the clock?

Chars!
