can anyone help me, i just went out to start my p38, havent used it all weekend, and wont start! all dash is lighting up and everything is working after a few turns battery is starting to sound like its dying! has never been like this so im thinking either a new battery or ive been reading about the rf reciever, there is alot of wireless routers around my area so thinking this is probably interfering with the becm, does anyone know where i can get this uprated receiver from or is it a case of a lr dealer only!

Any help would be very helpful.

It'a dealer only, reason being is that the part doesnt have any markings on it and you will only know you have just bought the real deal is if you purchase from a LR Main Dealer. It costs £140 plus fitting. Part number YWY500170.

The reciever is under the right hand side parcel shelf by the rear most side window, just by the seat belt.

Disconnect the aerial from the reciever, jump start/charge the battery, if you don't then have any more problems, replace the reciever or leave disconnected (poormans fix).

i had this exact same problem

i used the disconnect the aeriel trick and replaced the battery, that was 6 weeks ago now and it has worked fine ever since

good stuff !

yes mate, remove your off side plastic shelf, next to rear off side window, then you see your long blue radio ariel booster, and your black rf receiver. just two small push fit connectors, one for the ariel, and one for your becm.
easily removed.

I had the same problem this time last year, i pulled the aerial wire and all was fine so i replaced it.
£152 from L/Rs, well worth the money for the reapair and lack of flat battery business but for what you are actually buying its a complete conn!
The newest types have a small PCB fixed on its edge onto the larger PCB the other 2 previous recievers had only one PCB in the box...

Anyhow a year on and no problems at all since its been fitted...

thanks guys for all your help have disconnected the aerial lead and all is fine, will have to invest in a new reciever when i have the pennys!!! Thanks again.

Evening - After having just moved house the battery started playing up on my rangey ( 95 Nreg 2.5dt) which is when i found this top site !! I have removed the inner trim to reveal my receiver but i believe it has 1 wire going into the top of it - 1 out of the bottom and an aerial jack plug which needs to be unscrewed - Just to clarify - which 1 do i disconnect ?

Was Hoping You werent going to say that - thats the one i did disconnect but the same thing happened !! It may be that the battery is no good now after being completely drained flat and being like it for two weeks . Any ideas ?

sounds to me like your on the radio aerial there mate, look to the left of it and you should see a black matchbox size plastic box with two plugs coming from it, pull the single wire.
