Hi all,
When driving my new TD5 today I thought i'd see how smooth it was through the full rev range, in 3rd gear at 4000rpm I de-clutched to change up to 4th and the revs didnt drop!! Hence a nasty take up of 4th gear!

Considering the problem i hooked in my nanocom evo and when i go to the inputs page the clutch switch doesnt change state when i operate it...yet when i de-clutch during cruise control it knocks off back to manual throttle requirments..

my question, is the cruise control de-activated from the diesel control switch on the clutch pedal or is it from the hydraulic resevoir unit switch?

No idea!!

But your revs not dropping off could be sticking throttle potentiometer ;)

you need this part MSK500020 ... u can find lots in several places..e.g Britcar (UK) Ltd > MSK500020 DIESEL CONTROL SWITCH TD5 DISCO11 (G) or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DI ... 0559139571 ... insist on that part number cos there is an other clutch switch for Td5 defender which has reverted contact... see this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/clutch ... 91605.html

if u have doubts here is from RAVE
The clutch switch is located at the rear of the engine compartment on the RH side. The switch is operated by hydraulic pressure when the clutch pedal is pressed. The ECM uses the signal from the clutch switch for the following functions:
l To cancel cruise control if operating.
l To provide surge damping during gear change.
Surge damping stops engine speed rising dramatically (engine flaring) during gear change. Surge damping assists driveability as follows:
l Smoother gear change.
l Greater exhaust gas emission control.
l Improved fuel consumption.

take into account that if yours is a facelift this switch might be attached to the bottom of the master cylinder not on the pipe near the fusebox ... but in the rest it's the same ...there are some new posts on "the other side" too... i just realised that;)

cheers sierra
apologies for duplicate post..just wanted to see if any folks "this side" had the same problem :0)
I'll switch sites and take a peek

many thanks

muchos gracias lads...

Started fault finding this morning - didnt last very long,
some chetnut had taken the plug out of the switch!!!

Reconnected, all tested ok in the nanocom inputs...drove it - what a difference, it drives amazingly smooth through the gear changes now

thanks all, a happy ending to a simple problem
