revs keep dropping

hello AGAIN
ive a 1.8 freelander when i hold it at 2000 revs it just drops bk to around a 1000 again then builds its self bk up to 2000 , also when driving it does the same , it does not cut out , any info would be great thanks
 
thanks for the info on the sensor got 1 today and fitted it , pain in the arse 2 do , anyway it worked a treat thanks again
 
Crickey, I'm glad to hear that was the problem. The thing is there could be several reasons why the engine RPM would be unsteady and the position sensor seemed a reasonable place to start. Well done for having a crack at it and even more so for the successful outcome. :)
