Melandee goes into reverse ok,the reverse lights will not stay on unless the gear lever is held firmly back.

Had a new reverse light switch fitted (which on a 300 is'nt adjustable i have been told) ,new bias plate fitted.

Can anybody help?? very frustrating having to remember to hold the gearlever back all the time when reversing.

Hi there, I did this job on my wife's Tdi200 and that is a screw-in switch so you can adjust it's operation accordingly. Have just checked on Rave03 and couldn't find a definitive answer, but if you follow this link you willsee chapter and verse of how to get at it and have a lookee.

Link: Part number or name needed

Taking the centre console out is about 20 mins and then you could see for yourself whether it's adjustable or not?

Do let us know, won't you?

Cheers
Dave

Thanks for the piccies e.t.c.
Can i assume that a 300 T.D.I. without the lock nut can still be adjusted would any body know??

Hang on this was fitted by a LR dealer Trinity Motors Hinkley, they did'nt put a locknut on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is exactly why most of us like to do the work ourselves, if at all possible. The number of numpty garages out there is frightening.

I can cock it up myself - I don't need to pay someone to do it for me:p :D

Cheers

Hi If the gearbox is a lt77 (reverse next to 1st) the switch is adjustable if you've got an r380 then theres no lock nut and no adjustment - however you can possibly take the washer off and see if that cures your problem. I ended up removing a bit of the shoulder on the switch with a lathe to get my reverse light to behave.

Oh and on the r380 you can get at the switch from underneath with no need to remove anything - but wait for the damn exhaust to cool

THAT,S WHAT I,M TALKIN ABOUT

Hurray somebody hit it on the head,it is the R380 on a 300 tdi and reverse is back right .
Thanks for the info mate. :) :} :-] @_@ *v* y_y
