I live in London and recently bought a Series 3. I think that fitting a reversing light may be a wise idea for driving around London.

Does anyone sell an aftermarket switch that can be somehow connected to the gearbox to switch a light on when reverse gear is selected?

I would like to hear from anyone else that has fitted a reversing light, and how they went about doing it.

Thanks for any info.

There's a hole in the gear lever bracket into which can be screwed a brake light switch to control the lights.
Can't find the lr part number at the moment, but almost any brake light switch will do.

I just put a light on the back and wired it to a switch on the dash, which is fine if you sit in the vehicle while they do your MOT.

I popped into my local bike dealers and bought a brake light switch - it's pull to make - and used a bit of ally strip to bodge a bracket. A loop of wire on the selector mechanism to attach the switch spring to and Bob's your uncle. This "temporary" arrangement has worked for years.

That's what i have - a proper spot light on the back too!

MOT tester didn't test the reversing lights though.
