I'm on with it now. Got it all apart, cleaned and greased and back together. In Pic The Plunger wil spring in and out perfect Until the big nut on top is tightened down further then it will not move at all. What the hell have I done now, it is assembled back the exact way it came apart.

If it doesn't have a locknut it maybe a different type of reverse plunger, might explain the circlip too ...

This one, 13, does and no locknut; so not adjustable :

Think I've got it. I fitted it back on and gradually turned the big nut A on your diagram till it was closed whilst putting it in and out of reverse . Reverse goes in Good now with big nut closed but the more I loosen that big nut the Easier it gets.

thats correct some are adjustable to weaken or strengthen the push with lever needed to engage reverse,to weak and when selecting 1st youll slip in reverse

They must be diferent as your first diagram says Earlier Models second / mine,

must be later .
Anyway didn't put the Cirspring thingy back on as it shot across the garage when I finally prized it out, never to be seen again,

It seems not to bad now with big nut closed, can get all gears including Reverse but it is only closed Finger Tight, shall I just leave it at that. ?

as long as the plunger is tight enough to stop you accidentally selecting reverse when going for first, whenlightly resting on the plunger the lever should move forward or back straight into 1st or 2nd if not the spacers adjust that

Right will test that tomorrow, you can hear a kind of clank when it hits reverse so know when you have it, if you know what I mean.
I would like to get a load of Grease down in to the rest of the workings but don't want to take anything else apart unless I have to. Cant find any Grease Nipples .

clank when you go across or when lever goes forward to engage

thats normal its the idler gear sliding forward and hitting its stop inside the box
Thank God thought you were going to say it was wrong ;)
Does it need grease down under the big ball at bottom of Stick, it is moving OK but would rather get some in now while tunnels off.
