So I thought I was doing really well after my axle rebuilds had removed all oil leaks and made the car drive very well, and I had just fixed my speed sensor, which had stopped the cutting out problem and saved me a hundred quid.
After driving a 150 trip in the disco for a holiday in Wales, halfwayNthrough the weekend i lost reverse on my LT77.
Earlier in that day I had popped it into reverse, obviously not quit fully, and it popped out with a bang and medium grind. Into reverse again and away we go, and also a few more times that day.
My mate was moving the car when it happened, so I don't know exactly, but he said (and I watched him move it from 100 feet away) that he selected reverse, move the car back, then into first and drove toward me, then into reverse to hitch a trailer up. When it wouldn't go back, he called me over to the trailer.
I jumped in and sure enough, no reverse gear.
The lever moves into place, but in silence, no click, grind, clunk that i normally get. The lever moves smoothly but doesn't select a gear!
All 5 gears work fine, although I do have a bad whine in 3rd 4th and 5th, getting louder as you clime the gears - I thought this could be input shft wear at the transfer box, and it also snicks badly into second.
But either way, it drove me home just as normal for 150 miles, just no reverse.
It will even move the lever into "reverse" with the clutch up, so definitely no gears being selected.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks, sam
