Rev limiter or fault?

Having appeared to have solved (hopefully) the auto gear box fault I still have a problem, is the rev limiter set at a certain limit (4000rpm ish) or does it change depending on speed/load/throttle position as this is what's happening at the moment whether I am towing our 25ft caravan or not.

Go to pull away from stand still and the car moves but with no power for a couple of seconds then your off like a rocket which makes it difficult pulling out at round bouts. Then when you hit around 4000/4500 the engine will not produce any more power but you can still keep going (60/70mph) come back off the throttle a bit and on, auto box changes down but still no power to pull away but you can coast as if the engine has gone into some sort of limp mode as soon as I release the throttle pedal totally then power is restored and I can go through the whole process again! If I don't go above 3500/3800rpm every thing is fine.

No warning lights come on when this happen, have a Nano com and no fault codes are found.

This is an intermittent fault as some days the car is fine. The only other thing I have notice is if I give it some wellie but not over 3800rpm it seems to loose power in between changes from 3rd to 4th for longer than I would expect.

The Diesel will start petering out at 4K and also due to the nature of the engine and turbo you will find little happens before 2K especially when towing!

I would also check condition of the pipe to the MAP sensor, as if it is split or detached you will struggle greatly with lack of power!
 
Most of my changes are around 3000 rpm unless I use wider throttle openings and it will delay that much longer and rise to 3500 rpm unless in sport mode then all gears are stretched . When you say that you pull away but no power do you mean as in moving or that its hardly moving but revs get higher but not speed or a total stutter with revs and movement ?
Ps what saint said check it .
And as for rev limiter check your rpm against live data to see if if runs true.

Everything can be going ok, stop at a roundabout go to pull away and hardly any power revs increase slightly and car moves but with no get up and go as if something is holding beck (engine does not stall or miss fire and runs fine between 20/70 mph) then after 2/3 seconds away you go and then everything is fine and at the next roundabout/junction everything will be fine then it will do it again.

When its having its funny turn if you were to put it in n or p would it rev up ?
 
Clean or replaced and get the map boost pressure checked throttle pots too while its in live data all these can be checked including crank in comparison to needle lift sensor of number four injector to see if anything is obvious

Hi Saint, does not seem to petter out and pulls well just hits a wall around 4000rpm and will not give me any power back until I remove my foot totally from the throttle pedal.

over fill it some as when you put it in gear it goes down, 1/2" over full on dip stick will not hurt. If it moves and goes ok , then I would change filter and fluid , if you can change filter

Took the car to work this morning and still have the problem, when foot full (kick down) on the floor it hits the rev limiter around 4000rpm and will not change up unless I take my foot off the throttle slightly then it will. If I don't floor it the auto box works as it should.

Is this just a fetcher of the kick down!

No, it's not a feature of the kick down. No idea what those numbers from your diagnostics represent.
When you fill the gearbox you have to follow the correct procedure, engine cold and idling, move through all gear positions slowly and back to neutral then check the level.

The numbers were from my Nano com as every now and then I have a flat spot when pulling away as you say they don't mean anything without the headings. If I could delete that post I would!

Have checked the levels as you described and all is fine.
 
Have you checked your transfer box ecu under the passenger seat (RHD)? You can get at it from the back of the seat by removing the duct under the seat then open it up and check for burning.

I had a similar issue with mine (apart from it being petrol) and it would just hit the limiter and not change up until I took my foot off slightly.
