Hi All,
Firstly I apologise for my ignorance of such things.
Secondly my P38 Range Rover (Petrol '96) has decided not to start anymore - nothing wrong with the battery, it worked absolutely fine until recently. The key turns but not starting so it's in capable hands at a garage just outside of Plymouth (Smithaleigh). They've managed to diagnose the fault as the BeCM not synced with the ECU but they don't have the tools to resync it. They have suggested they need a Nanocom to be able to do this? I'm not au fait with such things so my first question is can the Nanocom do this and would anyone in the Plymouth area be able to drop by and help them (and me) out as I would very much like to be driving again?
Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tristan

I wonder how they managed to diagnose that the problem is loss of sync? Usually if they have kit to read the engine ECU and the BECM, they can re-write the code.

Try the Landyzone International Rescue Map and see if anyone close has either Nanocom or syncmate. What year is it? Petrol ECU changed from GEMS to THOR around 1999 and Nanocom is locked to one engine type unless you pay for all 3 engine modules (third is the diesel EDC).

Hawkeye or Lynx might be able to resync too but not sure.

EDIT: just seen yours is 96 so GEMS.

doesn't sound right that , " so its in capable hands " ???????????????? not very capable then are they . are they lr dealers ????????? or just local garage ???? if their not range rover competent then afraid that they maybe scratchin their heads and will be passing a large invoice to you for "timewasting" I sincerely hope not , send more info over to me as to what was happening as to why you had to send it to them in 1st place , regards Mozz
