Hello.
I just bought my first Defender.
It needs new doors, and I have come across some doors for a Puma without windows, doorhandels, door panels and so on. I was then wondering if everything from my "TD5" door will fit the Puma Door? It won't give much sense to buy cheap doors if I have to buy a lot new accessories for them and drive the price up.

Sorry for the bad English o_O
Many Thanks in advance from Norway :)

Fit series doors they are much better! Especially if you get the military/rockymountain aluminum tops.

Regarding your question unfortunately I cannot help, I have split doors fitted to mine. None of this fancy modern up and down window opening for me

I see.
I guess I normally would buy series doors (since they are way cooler), but I can get these Puma-doors so cheap that I kinda want to buy them instead.

I’m sure the inner panels are different between 2 of the models. I’m not sure if it’s puma and TD5, or pre TD5 and TD5 onwards. I don’t think anything else is different, but I could be wrong.

I think everything is different post td5. Nowt swops over.
Not 100% on that though.
That is what I suspect aswell... The doors aren't so cheap anymore if I have to buy all the internals including the glass (considering I have to ship it to Norway)...
What do people here do when you need new doors? Series conversion? repro?

If they can't get second hand ones, people buy aftermarket ones. Or just frames and then transfer the skins and handles etc. You might want to look at galvanised frames. Do they use a lot of salt on the roads in Norway? Depends on how good your skins are, of course.
By the way, Your English is excellent. :)

Thanks!
It depends where in Norway you live. The further north, the less salt. There is much salt here where I live unfortunatley.
The problem with restorating the doors is that I have to get a door done in the weekend or something, since the Defender is my daily.

^^ this one, as I said initially :D

I would seriously consider repairing the ones you have if the skin is in reasonable condition though, you can get frames or frame sections and you already have everything you need.

Something to bear in mind as you cost up different options, if you do convert to series doors you will have the same problems with the frames rotting out so make sure they are well protected, and unless you manage to get the aluminium door tops the standard steels ones are basically disposable items which will last a few years and need replacing again.
