I've got a 1986 90 with lift up handles, and they're knackered. Drivers side door keeps opening itself while driving, and fiddling with it hasn't helped. Locks are equally knackered ( as are the doors, galvanic corrosion, but I'm not replacing them..)

Trying to find replacement door mechanisms is hard work, so I was looking at replacing them with anti-burst ones.

Before spending 100 quid on handles to find out they don't fit, has anyone done this, and do they fit?

"All doors on 90's should be anti-burst locks."

Yes, I agree.

The old style (non anti-burst) were fitted to earlier Series vehicles but even the S111 (certainly later ones) was fitted with anti-burst mechanisms. Certainly they were fitted to the early (lift up handle) 90 & 110's. If you haven't got them then it is possible someone has retrofitted (very) early doors / handles?
Have posted a couple of photos below showing the difference (not very good but best I could source at short notice). Non anti-burst have a spring loaded latch, anti-burst have a claw.

Non anti-burst.

Yes, 90 should be anti burst.
Even so these will open if the spring in the door unit if poor, the roller on the pillar latch is broken/missing. door hinges are worn/sloppy. or any combination of the above.

I dont think those locks fit in early 90 doors do they? The inside mechanism is all wrong.

I seem to remember when I changed mine for series door the striker didn't fit the lock, so the locks are indeed different.

The Series type anti-burst locks will fit Millitary 110/90's, your doors are the one piece doors fitted to 90/110's untill about 1986 and as you have found out, they are quite rare these days.
Could be worth giving Paddocks or similar a bell, or email them the photo.

There are new original spec doors available- at 400 quid each. I'll take the rear door handle off, offer up to the door, and have a look...I can always cut the door card and or door itself to fit!

There’s a whole kit available for that, 2 doors, tops, hinges & locks. I’ve had do many problems with push button doors I’m changing to these (soon, if finances allow!).

ahhhh - you've got lift handle outside and pull tab inside. I have that.

Good luck finding new parts to replace bit, thats all i'm going to say
