So... the interior lights (the ones in the ceiling that come on when you open the doors etc...) aren't that bright. They are as bright as they should be, but it'd be really useful if at least the front one was much brighter.

Are there any LED replacements or even bulb replacements that simply replace the existing bulb, but happen to be a lot brighter?

It's not worth transplanting the entire unit or rewiring anything for this extra brightness, but if there's a simple bulb replacement solution, for example, I may well go for it...

not sure on this one, as the interior lights are controlled thru the mfu. (multi function unit). this turns the lights off by dimming them after a time duration on shutting the doors.
reckon the lower current led lights may confuse it, but if you try it let us know how it goes!

Put led equivalents in my 300 tdi-got em from ebay-make sure you get the right length, mine were a bit too long, but jammed them in-changed both interior ones ,but not boot-they have been in around a year and work fine and still dim down when going off-a nice ice blue light-will post a piccy if someone can show me how

you can get cheep ones that are 3 leds or you cold get ones that will really light up your cab,there12 leds together, try ebay or your local modified car shop

so far i've found these:

WHITE INTERIOR LED LAND ROVER DISCOVERY FREELANDER on eBay (end time 17-Jan-11 02:02:45 GMT)

INTERIOR LIGHT LED LAND ROVER DISCOVERY FREELANDER on eBay (end time 31-Jan-11 19:03:09 GMT)

LANDROVER 12 LED PANEL WHITE interior dome light on eBay (end time 09-Jan-11 14:28:34 GMT)

Which would you recommend?? I guess it's hard to know.

Also, i would never have thought of buying a colour other than white, but there's a lot of other colours about. Mainly blue. Any advantage to having a blue one?!?

I have similar to the Aceparts 2 x 8 leds in a 38/39mm tube and for the boot lamp I modified the holder so a tube could be used so a 4 led is fitted there, also the front side lights are led towers.

Don't go for the 99p lamps they don't last that long if one pops the others go into overload. and there are standard led's and super led's.

I got ones similar to these:Item number: 180608385058 but they do various lengths from 36mm-44mm,so measure your bulb first, then see who is cheapest-think I got mine from hong kong, just takes a bit of time for shipping

4 months ago I changed first the "driver" light with a led bulb with exact type of conection. Only that instead of the original bulb it has a "round pill" with 3 small leds inside. Do not know the manufacturer. It was the last one in stock where I did buy it. Worked great.

Then, after trying to find another one unsuccessfully in a couple of places, asked the independent repair shop where I take my car, if they could find one.

Instead they managed to connect 2 pieces of 3-leds-in-a-row together, and substitute the original connection so that it feeds a 6-led-cluster into each of the 2 remaining original lights cases (2nd row and 3rd row of seats) and it works very nicely since then.

It does change the ambience of the car. Very white light (but not too much light).

I would recommend it to anyone who uses the car either daily or at night.
A big difference in terms of comfort.

true... and i can't think of any reason blue would be better than white anyway. In fact, I think blue would be a bit weird. There's almost more blue LED lights for sale on eBay than white ones though, which is just odd!

Anyway, white it is. Now to measure the bulb and to find my boot light!

The std interior light is basically fit for purpose - get in, find the gearstick and handbrake and away you go.
I have fitted a flourescent light fitted into both cabin and cargo area of my commercial and they are excellent for when you need more light.

Green and red will be great at night to prevent loss of vision whilst driving, yet provide enough light for your passenger to roll the fags.

My main concern is fitting the large volume of LEDs without it looking like some arseholes corsa.
