Replacing boot floor (video)

Just saw a good video which shows what needs to be done in order to replace the boot floor in the disco 1. It gives quite a good overview.

My 15 year old disco has just passed mot with advisory that floor panel is rusty, duh. That vid will help. Thanks

Not impressed with all the angle grinding, very lazy.

Spot weld drill and some patience does a much nicer job and doesn't spray sparks all over your interior burning it all.

Also, why does he use rivits? He could just as easily puddle welded the floor to the supports through drilled holes. Also, spot welds were the original fitment, therefore an MOTer could fail it for not having an original construction method repair.

Bodged job in my opinion.

MOT test will not be affected by use of rivets, alot of people use this method instead of welding. Coldweld(silicon adhesive) and rivets are a widely used method on bootfloors, as not everyone can weld or have the equipment to. (rivets are a better fix than ****ty welding)

Would weld it in myself though as you say!

quick tip.. if you are going to fit your boot floor as shown in the video , then i would underseal, stonechip etc, the under side first. saves the hassle after.
