P38A Replacement of OBD2 port?

My OBD2 port in my 2001 P38 is knackered (due to water ingress). Has anyone replaced this on theirs? I know I can look at Rave, figure out how to get the connector out etc, just wondering if this is common enough for their to be a 'how to' anywhere?

Just drop the panel and you can access the connector. Get a spare from a breaker with a length of wire in place, then cut off your duff connector and solder the wires colour to colour on your new one insulating with glue filled heat shrink tube. Make sure the wire colours are the same on old and new before you start.

generic OBD socket. . . . .or clean the green off the contacts. Dip the entire connector into a solution of white vinegar & salt. Leave for an hour or so to remove all the green corrosion. Then rinse the vinegar off in cup of water & dry with hairdryer. Spray with regular contact cleaner & test.

Just check the wires have not corroded off at the back.

Farnell sell obd2 connectors.
I'm on my phone so not easy to look up but if you search the site they should be easy to find.

OK, I was just offering options as I was looking for a new one a while back.
How much are the ebay ones and do they come with the pins and wires already?

Lots of options, so you need to be careful. With & without pins and some with a length of cable.
Not looked at the price recently, I mainly buy the plug ends in batches of 50 to make EAS diagnostic cables. Not selling so many these days so still have stock.
