well i went to timsons shoe repairs as the do keys as i only have the one set and even if i could just get a key to open the door so my wife could get in if she needed to , well 2 keys later them money back , he did say that they do a programable key ,they are £40 but they could not get the keys.LR agent want £140 just for the key, i have a spare fob but can not programe it i have tried standing in front of it and press the button 5 times but it did not work.

Try an independent, if your key is chipped it will be around £120 and then your remote fob and testbook to programme. Works out about £170 inc vat. Not cheap at all!!

think the 5 presses thing only works if the fob was already programmed onto the vehicle, but has come out of sync.

i was told today that both the new one and your original one need programming to car at the same time.
Only works if you disconnect then reconnect the car battery
Even then it would have to have been programmed to the ecu previously
Not complicated and the thread below discussing this only last week, check my post out. I've yet to find anyone cheaper.

Evening, having exactly the same fun with my 02 freelander. only 1 set of keys. Tried local auto locks, could not do land rover chipped keys. Went to main dealer and he wanted £110 for the key and chip then fifty pound to program the key to the car and then vat on top. Went to my local timpsons and he can do it all for £95 inc vat. They are gonna order the key and chip and the cars booked in for saturday.
