Hi all, ive read through previous streams but cant find an answer.

MY dad had my old freelander 1 TD4 HSE.its on a 54 plate. the alternator is covered in oil and has failed.
looking to get him a replacement but there are many different types.

Does anyone have a go to source for this info.

The car is in France and my dad is over 80 so cant crawl on the floor to have a look for any old labels. the plan was to but it here and then take it over with me.

Any help wopuld be appreciated.

This may help. Looks like there are a couple of different power ratings 115A and 150A. However, they have different connectors so you would need to know what is fitted to the vehicle.
Also, more importantly, you'll need to identify and solve the oil leak or the next alternator won't last long!!!
Could he take a photo? Tis well hidden and if the car has A/C you'll need to drop the compressor. You can leave pipes on though. Bon voyage!!

If it has the cold weather (heated front screen) pack fitted, it'll be the 150A alternator.
If it doesn't, it should have the 115A alternator fitted.

He had a 150 Amp and no heated screen, that's why I flagged the thread. Or more accurately, forgot to flag the thread!!!
That's quite strange, unless of course LR decided to simply install the same harness in all TD4s, to avoid having to use 2 different harnesses?
