Hey all. I am new to this forum and do have a lot of experience working on my car.

I recently replaced my rear air suspension on my 01 Discovery SE7. I did not want to do a spring conversion because of the many losses of benefits which would result.

After replacing the air bags the car immediately raised and all seemed to be working fine. Though, once I turn the truck off and let it sit it returns back down to the completely lowered position. Theses are brand new bags and have no leaks and I do not think there are leaks in any of the hoses because once the car has raised the pump stops pumping (it is not turning on and off to compensate for lost air).

Can anyone help me with this? I hate having to wait 30 seconds every time I get in my car to let it raise back up again.

Hopefully the big boys will come on soon and probably put me right, but have you considered the sensors. From reading plenty of posts last year when my bags were playing up it seems that sometimes you need to have the sensors reset. Or replaced.

Cheers

Rob

I was thinking something along those lines.
I remember, before I changed them, reading into it quite a lot and finding many posts saying to jack the axle up very high so as to "trick" the sensors as to think that the car is in low ride mode or "tow mode" I think which it is called.
Anyways, I did do this but was unable to find sufficient details into what exactly was meant by tricking the sensors...

Also, the left side does seem to be a bit lower than than the right when the bags have deflated, or the car has been left off for 30 min or so. This happened before I replaced the bags because only one bag had a hole in it and I think the sensors were deflating the other bag to the lowest possible pressure in order to compensate for the flat bag.

The difference now is that once the car is on it never sinks so I am quite positive there is no leak.

I have put 2,000 miles on the truck after replacing the bags, 1,100 of which have been with five guys and a loaded tail, so there has been plenty of constant weight on the car to test it for leaks and no problem has resulted. I am quite certain the sensors are playing a trick on the car...

When the engine is running the compressor will compensate air loss(if there is any)...and it might burn out cos it's not HD.
1. First of all make sure there are no leaks ... take out the compressor housing's cover and spray soapy water there(if u are so certain about the bags and the pipes)... u might loose air at a valve.... usually sensor failures have different behaviour.

2. Push ORM, let it raise then leave it so...se what happens then

3. If u have access to tester run circuit tests on the sensors as to not replace them in vane.

it will be a valve sticking open in the compressor !!!

resulting in the defaltion

bad news i dont think u can just get a new valve !!!!

£250 or more for new one !!

just recheck before replacing the compressor !! for leaks !!!!
