So my steering box is leaking quite badly now and was thinking of getting a bearmach overhaul and seal kit. I am concerned about the lack of youtube videos showing this being done though. Is there a walk through on how to do it and more importantly, can it be done in my garage? will i need specific tools?

The whole procedure with drawings is in RAVE - Workshop manual - Steering - Repairs ... i strongly discourage you to do that job with a DIY rebuild kit just like that cos in most cases it doesnt last as the main problem is the wear in the shaft where the seal sits so a new seal might not stop the leak completeley or just for short time, though you can see if that's the case or not ... if you insist to use the seal kit find a specialised shop where they can fill and machine down the shaft to it's original shape then refit it

I've just fitted one of these as recommended in another post on here and can't fault the quality of the part or service. includes the drop arm too so a simple fit Also includes free delivery and free collection of the old unit within 14 days, just pop the old one back in the crate they delivered the new one in then give them a ring. Really not worth messing around trying to recon your own. Comes with full 2 year warranty. If you read the description they appear to know exactly what they are doing.

Search Britannica Restorations on YouTube for the steering box seal info. It’s a complete rebuild video I think, but it is by far the best info you will get. Also look for SKF Speedie Sleeve for the output shaft. I haven’t used them personally but I hear good things about them and will definitely use one next time mine leaks as It probably will
