RENEWING THE GLOW PLUGS

This is a pretty easy job to do.

First ah removed the pipes and cyclone breather to give me better access….

Then ah took of the nut holding the feeds nearest the bulkhead first…

then continued with the other ones before removing the harness…

Next it was just a case of using a long/deep 10mm socket to remove the plugs…

(just a couple of photie’s of the old and new plugs)…

Then it’s just a case of smearing some copper grease around the plug threads fitting and torquing up the new plugs, sticking the harness back on, sticking the cyclone breather and hoses back on….

If ye suspect a dodgy glow plug, try sticking the plug in a vice (carefully as not to crush or damage it!) then attach a wire to the body of the plug and to the negative terminal of a spare battery and a wire to the top threads of the plug and connect to the positive terminal of the battery. The tip should glow red about 5 or 6 seconds, if not then suspect a knackered plug….

Leave the plug for a while to cool down as it will be very hot!!!

That’s it, job done
