Removing road wheels corroded to hub

A search has pulled up nothing useful. So any tips? I can't get the rear 16" wheels off my spares dog. I want to put them on my daily drive before the MOT as the tyres are better than the Wranglers on my 18" rims and it will save me forking out for expensive new French tyres.:)
 
Large hammer and a wooden drift on the outer edges of the rim....bang it top/bottom/left/right.

Might just give it enough of a nudge to break them free!

But I am sure a gentleman of your knowledge would have tried that already :(

It doesn't drive, too many bits missing now.
I've tried thumping, penetrating oil etc. Tempted to put a rope round the one that's easily accessible and give it a yank with the digger:eek: I got the fronts off, the corrosion on the calipers and hubs was the worst I've ever seen.
 
Ive yanked them off with another car before now but also yanked it off the axel stand
Think the wood between the wheels with a jack sounds the best idea yet! some 4"x4" fence post should be enough
 
I levered mine off when hammering failed. I put a thin bar between the spokes of the alloy and levered against the brake disks. Came off quite easily then!

sounds like a reasonable way to bugger things up to me.. loosen wheel studs a turn, jack it up an inch, support if you dont want it to fall, then a ruddy big lump of wood scaffold plank ect slid along the ground through from the other side to connect with the wheel, or rim

there is a strong case for coating the backs of alloys in copperslip to prevent this, but that don't help. the digger method could go a bit too far :eek:

drive a wedge down the back of one side with the nuts loose then tighten an opposite nut this may be enough just to break the crust.

introduce a stress riser in the alloy? maybe im too cautious....

ahh, scientific well thought out thuggery, i like it i do,thats wot i aspire to, sadly the phrases "ahh ####" and "i'll not do that again" crop up with frightening regularity in my garage... :p
