Removing glue/foam from Defender roof?

I recently discovered that the numpty who owned my 90 before me decided that it would be a good idea to stick some foam backed roof lining directly onto the roof.

Unsurprisingly the liner is now ruined and had to be removed, but this has left me with a roof covered in an disgusting orange carpet adhesive/soggy foam mixture, which is proving to be a complete nightmare to remove! Other than elbow grease and perhaps a plastic scraping utensil, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about cleaning the mess up?

I tried WD40 but that just ended in a horrible mess.

I've thought about just re-covering the roof with self adhesive foam, but I suspect that it will just fall off in a few months. I've also considered buying a new roof lining from lasalle-trim.co.uk but I would rather avoid the expense if at all possible.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Toffee wheel on a drill, will take no time at all...

Never heard of a toffee wheel but I do like the idea of saving myself some effort by using a drill. Wouldn't the glue/foam just stick to the toffee wheel, though?
