Hi
We recently bought a Freelander (2006). Ive no power to the cig lighter and there is evidence something like a handsfree was once installed so I wonder if the power has been pinched from the cig lighter (fuse is fine).

I was to have a look behind the centre console, I tried to remove the centre console, I removed 4 screws, 2 above cd player and 1 either side in the footwells. Seemed loose but wouldnt come out. Do I need to remove the whole arm rest section too?

Thanks

Hi
Arm Rest? That sounds posh, where is it on my '99 L Series?

Its not actually in the right poition to rest your arm on hahah

I removed the box inside the arm rest and inside hidden away were some loose wires, one of which had 12v when the ignition was on so I bought a multi cig adapter from the poundshop cut the end off and wired in to the spare wire there. Happy Days!! Ive now got 2 cig powers and a usb socket.

Cheers
Louis

Just used compressor to pump a tyre, poundshop cig adapter wires melted and shorted. No idea what fuse has blown. Bloody poundshop!!

to remover center console you must remove the arm rest first thing is to prize the back where the power/lighter socket is then there are two screws going into the floor I can not remember if there are screws holding the cd holder in and then you have about a 2inch /50mm square pull that up and there are two screws under there then you should be able to pull it out when you are putting it back make sure the wires are on the gravity sensor next to the hand break or you will get the three amigo's

Pound shop stuff is designed to take about 2 or 3 Amps max. Your pump will easily be double or tripple that!!
The factory power sockets will take about 100 watts or 8 Amps. Use a battery clamp for heavy electrical loads like pumps ;)
The fuse will be listed on the internal fuse box lid as accessory socket iirc.

Hi,
I was going to get a stud and bolt from a local scrappy on Wednesday, it was coming off the same Freelander that I've taken the wheels off however when they guy promised me the stud I don't think he realised how much work it would be to take off.

Looking on ebay for Freelander wheel studs there are: 45mm55mm and 63mm? How would I know what I need??

Ta
Louis

A standard 45mm stud cost about £3 and a wheel nut will be about the same. It's not worth going to a breakers yard for. ;)
