Removable step for rock sliders

I wondered if any of you engineering and metalwork geniuses could help me with this. I've got a set of rock sliders with tree bars fitted and was considering making a metal step which is folded in such a way that it can just hook over the tree bar when I need to use it. Obviously it will have to be of sufficient strength to support someone standing on it to get into the landy but I don't have a clue where to start to be honest.
Is this a doable project and how easy would it be?

Yes I've seen one, might have a pic ?

The sliders were drilled sideways and fitted with a box section

The step had box section welded and slid into the box on the rock sliders.

do your tree sliders have high lift points in?

You could fit a pivot point (hinge or spindle) under the slider and use the door opening as an actuator to drop and lower the step

that works on a gas ram or spring I think but they're quite chunky and the system does break easily

I was really just looking for a piece of folded metal that could be hooked over it and when its not in use it'll be stored away. Nothing too fancy as it won't be getting used often. I'm just wondering what would be stronger and easier to use, folded sheet steel or bent steel tube.

Or if perhaps even one of those wheel steps that hook over the wheel would be of any use, or are those not much use due to being designed to fit over a rounded mounting surface

Could just chuck a milk crate in the boot, take it out when required, and as an added bonus, it would never rust

As it sounds

a hinged step on the slider that folds when you shut the door

You could make it a hook type. So loops over the top of the tree bar and under the slider itself. I'd make it from some small box section. And to secure it for every day driving drill a hole through it and the tree slider and R clip it....

That's the kinda idea I'm after. Never thought of the r clip but its a good idea if I'm gonna leave it on for a few hours and drive around. No good at welding though so I'm gonna have to start practicing harder lol
