Hi all
Please may I ask for some advice.
The interior bulb (one in the middle of the roof) has been off a while so I thought it’s time to remove it and order another one. I have removed it and noticed a few tiny sparks. Now my remote locking won’t work. I can lock the car and unlock it using the buttons in the car on the dash. It locks fine when I drive off. It’s just the remote locking that’s not working. And ideas? I have a 2011 freelander 2 TD4.

Maybe the sparks were due too a short circuit, which has blown a fuse, or damaged the remote locking receiver.

Hi. It came from the metal bulb holder as I was removing the bulb. If it blew the fuse I would of expected it to blow the interior light fuse but the front and boot light still work.

What about the light you changed the bulb in? Does that still work?

Sounds like the lamp holder shorted out as you took the bulb out. Haven't got the fuse diagram for a FL2 but they may be a shared fuse with the receiver.

Sparks do not sound good. Electronic components have a habit of blowing so that they do not damage the fuse. Just in case you are lucky check F17 engine fuse box (big spark) and F17 central fuse box (small spark).

All I can see linking the two is the courtesy light dimmer is on the same feed as the central electronics module that controls the door locks. Which would suggest a voltage spike rather than a blown fuse but worth checking the fuses first. After that a detailed look at what is not working and make a list before you forget how it was before? Are all the other lights working, do the dimmers work as the lights go off etc? The other interior light ok (on/off/auto)?

It’s fixed. I checked the fuses. All ok. I disconnected the car battery. Left it an hour. Reconnected it and all works fine. To everyone who replied. Thank you. Your help and advice was much appreciated

A hard reset was going to be my next suggestion.
Glad it's sorted.

Don't forget to recalibrate the windows. ;)
