hi all, from what i hear from ppl this is a common problem.

i sometimes have problems with my key fob. does not always lock or unlock car. if the fob dont work then i use the key to unlock car, then when i try to turn engine in comes up with engine immobilised. i get it going everytime, never been a quick solution. dont really know what i do tho, just seems to all of a sudden start working.
does this even if i just lock the car with the key.

now i been told that range rovers have a problem with their key fobs, something to do with mixing signals from power cables and aireals things like that. is this true??????

if it is and theres no real solution then does anyone no a quick way of disabling the immobiliser quick so i aint stuck in co-op car park for an hour everytime i go there. lol.

cheers.
Mike

I'm having similar issues with an 06 L322 TD6! What is your car?

I didn't think it was a key fob problem as when the issue occurs we have tried both keys & we get a faint but rapid bleeping sound from under the trim somewhere near the ignition barrel/gear selector... Then sometimes after a few seconds & sometimes after 30-40 mins it suddenly starts to work again!

hi, dont meen this in a bad way, but im glad i aint the only one, lol

i got a P38 model.

its not the key. it only seems to happen in certain places.

Strangely enough I've only ever had it happen when the Mrs is about to drive, so the seat is in memory position 1, which for most of us means that your knees would be up by your ears!!! But she has to have it so close or she can't reach the pedals!!!

I'm gonna guess that your problem and my problem although similar, will probably have vastly different solutions as these cars seem so different.

Good luck with it...

What does that do exactly?
just what i was thinking, i dont want to do it if its not going o let me use the fob.

also can anyone answer me this as well. does the p38 have self closing windows????
i locked the car the other day withthe key trying to get immobiliser to turn off and all the windows on the car closed on there own. but this dont seem to work when i lock the car with the fob.

Yes the windows will close on their own if you hold the lock button on the fob when you lock the car until they start to move.:D

Back when they made your car, there weren't that many places with wifi. Now if you park somewhere with strong wifi it "drowns" the signal from your fob. By removing the signal cable from the antenna booster box you're making your car less sensitive. Your fob will still work, but you just got to be nearer the car. Not a problem if like me, you only tend to unlock when you actually get to the car and not while on "approach" from 50 feet away! The proper fix is to upgrade your RF box to one that can still tell your key fob from the wifi but its not at all necessary. As for your windows, as Data said, you were probably holding down the button. 3 secs and windows (and sunroof) will close. Perfectly silly feature and a drain on the battery if you ask me. Incidentally, you can always override the engine immobiliser by manually entering the EKA code so don't worry you won't be stranded in the parking lot!

just under the window drivers side, if you take top shelf off you can see 2 boxes its the one nearest the front, other is your radio..
