remapping

In my experience, re-mapping for economy doesn't work, unless it corrects some error. A diesel will only make more power by adding more fuel. Adding more fuel will increase fuel consumption. The only reason re-mapping "may" reduce fuel consumption, is by allowing a higher gear to selected earlier. You definitely can't have more power and use less fuel as diesels don't work that way.

I was thinking that under normal driving conditions around town is where the economy would come in but when needed the extra bhp would kick in and off we go?

I gave a guy in my street mike from dyno chips number to remap his freelander 2 well its newish, he says its completely transformed it
Bit like putting a weaker spring on the accelerator peddle maybe?

Having said that, a good remap will take out the MAF map, so you get a nice big cloud of smoke and a really good remap will take out the Torque map so you can destroy the engine. So there are choices out there.
