Have my lr4 booked in for remap and to take dpf out. Any thing I should be aware of before go ahead guys? The work is being done with a professional vehicle service that has been established for many years. Just curious if anyone has any comments. Thanks

They are just taking the inside out of the dpf and leaving the unit itself so should be ok for MOT

Funny I asked the technician the same question. He said if mapping is down correctly there should be no smoke.

What you may find is, as the engine has aged the injectors get worn, the dpf masks the issue, remove dpf and you could have smoke issues, not black as in badly tuned, but white/grey from unburnt fuel.
Six injectors are 1500 quid.

I assume you have googled 3.0 tdv6/sdv6 crank issues?

Yeah, seen the crankshaft saga. Tbh pre landrover I drove Volvo XC90 and Subaru and they all have issues. Don’t think any vehicle comes faultless, funny how google always gives the problems and never mentions how many vehicles were sold with no issues lol

Decided not to mess about with remap. Playing it safe, don’t want any unexpected bills.....

I think that is a wise move.
I may have said it above, but I am to lazy to look! well worth cutting the oil change intervals in half, if not less.
Look at the price of decent 3.0 v6 engines and you will see what i mean, with labour it will ge more than 50 percent of the value of an early D4.
